Crunch Time

Mail forwarded, utilities transferred, boxes packed, movers hired; I think we're ready.
Last 4 days in our house...I'm not ready.

Overheard...

*Sadie Kate told our "haircut girl", Rissie, that we sold our house and were going to stay at a "showtel" with a pool.

*When Sadie Kate went to bed Friday night, a basketball game was on TV in the living room. When she woke up the next morning, she walked into the living room, turned on the TV, and found highlights from the game on SportsCenter. She looked up at me and said,"Wow Momma, they are STILL playing basketball!"

*Sadie Kate and Ellie were playing momma and baby. Sadie Kate was not following Ellie's "orders" and Ellie put her hands on her hips and said,"Just so you know, your momma's getting frustrate at you."

Sweet Smile!

I found this picture on my phone last week and it makes me smile every time I see it. I guess letting the girls play with my phone isn't so bad afterall.

Well, she did it!!

What an exciting week we've had...
Ellie has worked so hard all year to learn her kindergarten sight words...it seemed like there were over 1000, but hey, who's counting!! Those final few words really threw her for a loop and we practiced those jokers every night...if I never see "what" and "want" again, I'll be just fine! To get that final push of motivation and effort, I promised Ellie I would take her to the salon and get her fingernails polished as a reward as soon as she passed off the entire kindergarten list. Well, that did it...two days later, this smiling face greeted me after school...

We already had appointments for haircuts that afternoon, so we stopped next door and the girls got their nails polished.  $6 and 4 minutes later, I had two happy girls. Wow, I should have thought of that earlier!!

SOLD!

We just sold our house! It came from out of the blue-it wasn't even on the market- but it was certainly a blessing from God. We will sign the papers tomorrow night, but everything seems to be on a fast track. The girls are excited and filled with questions: will I be able to take my toys, my clothes, my blanket, and oh yeah, where will we go? I assured them they could take their toys with them, but we still have few answers as to where we will go. I'm not ready to think about the emotions that will come as we say goodbye to our home where we have made so many memories. Right now, I must to focus on packing, sorting, and finding somewhere to live.

Ellie's "long time" friend, Gavin, celebrated his 6th birthday last Saturday at the UA basketball game and we were thrilled to join him for lots of fun. This was the first basketball game for both girls and they did well as long as the food and friends were close. They made it in their seats until around 6 minutes left in the game, so I consider that a success. By then, most of the kids were getting antsy and decided to gather in the aisle and empty seats to play and cheer. The girls talked about how fun the game was for the rest of the afternoon. Guess we'll be going back to cheer on the Tide again soon!

Ready for the party!

Lovin' the cupcake!

Sadie Kate loves a shaker! Good thing our seats were in the back!
