I've been a bit lax in posting lately, but the Mayos have been trying to keep up with work, school, church, homework, yardwork, housework, and the ever important...Alabama football.
Ellie still loves kindergarten and has adjusted to someone else holding the position of "queen bee" in the classroom. Mark and I went to a parent/teacher conference with her teacher, Mrs. Jones, Friday and were pleased with Ellie's progress in only 4 weeks. She is bringing home decodable books and reading them NUMEROUS time each night. She loves these little books and wants to practice ALOT! She has also discovered a love of writing words . Every paper from school comes home littered with "cat, bat, mat, sat, fat, rat" all over the margins and the back. She has also learned to write everyone in our family's name and loves to try that out as well.
Sadie Kate (fingers crossed and knocking on wood) has finally stopped freaking out when I drop her off at school. We have made it the last 3 days without tears, shrieks, and legging grabbing, so Ellie and I are hoping she's coming to grips with being at school by herself. Ellie gets as rattled as I do when Sadie Kate cries for us and begs us to stay. One morning as we walked out (with Sadie Kate's cries in the background), Ellie said, "Momma, she's just pitiful!" Can't we just take her to Northport with us? She can sit in my chair and I'll sit on the floor." Oh, that just made my sad little heart even weaker! Hopefully, our mornings will remain happy!!!
